massage sequence cont and how to work with the shoulders and spine area

Next after massaging the arms and hands move to the front of the torso. Focus on the sides of the torso and ribcage by using the gliding strokes like the long stroke and broad circling. After using the basic strokes move to the medium depth strokes like pulling and wringing, then as always returning back to the lighter strokes. Next you move onto the abdomen then work up from the belly in long sweeping strokes.
On the front of the legs apply oil then work your way up the legs just the same as you did the back of them only this times circle the kneecap on the way and end the with the foot. At the end of the massage can simply either use the long stroke across the whole body or rest your hands on two separate parts of the body.
When working with the shoulder and spine area be sure to be careful you don't want to apply too much pressure and injure the client. First circle around the shoulder blade then start to wok more firmly kneading all the fleshy areas of the shoulders. Gradually begin to use more pressure applying the thumb rolling stroke around the base of the neck. Linger on any little knots of tension and tightness that you find, interspersing this with soothing broader strokes. Finish this with alternate thumb rolling strokes along the side of the spine.
Kneading the shoulder: alternating your hands, rhythmically squeeze and gather pockets of flesh and knead around the shoulder blade and along this side of the ribcage as well as the shoulder itself, gliding your hands along the contours.
Next you move to the base of the neck do this by thumb rolling along the top of the shoulder and base of your partners neck. Use more pressure in the fleshy triangle at the top of the shoulder and base of neck. Use small firm strokes working deeper to release any tension. Be sure to check that your pressure is okay with your partner.
Thumbing beside the spine: starting at the base of the neck pushes your thumbs alternately along the groove beside the spine in short firm storks. Travel as far as the middle of the back then glide your hands back to the base of the neck and repeat.
Some areas are touchy and your not too sure how much pressure to apply or if you should work on that area at all. Working under the rim of a shouder balde is one that i think would be a very tricky area to work on, but heres how.
Have your partner lie on their stomach and place one hand under there shoulder to support it while you work under the blade with the other. Using your finger work around the shoulderblade starting at the top of the shoulder slowly down the inner edge of the blade pushing firmly in as far under the rim as you can. Repete several times. While working on top of the blade use your fingertips and make small deep circles working your way over the whole area.
